QIGONG

What is Qigong?

Qigong (pronounced "Chee Gung") means "life energy cultivation." Traditionally, it is seen as a method to cultivate and balance qi. It is often explained as a mind-body-spirit practice that improves one's mental and physical health by integrating posture, rhythmic movement, focused breathing, self-massage, sound, and concentrated awareness.

What are the Benefits of Qigong?

Specifically, it opens the flow of energy in meridians used in acupuncture. Also, it increases our ability to feel the Life Force underlying the physical world and to deepen our communication with it.

Physically, slow gentle movements warm tendons, ligaments, and muscles; strengthen vital organs and connective tissue; and promote circulation of body fluids (blood, synovial, lymph). In fact, many studies have shown qigong to be effective in helping to heal life challenges ranging from high blood pressure and chronic illness to emotional frustration, mental stress, and spiritual crisis. Is Qigong Safe?

Yes. Qigong is a Chinese health technique that is over five-thousand years old. As has been noted, it combines slow graceful movements with mental concentration and breathing to increase and balance a person’s life energy. It is an integral part of Chinese Medicine, along with acupuncture, acupressure, and herbal medicine. It is especially effective at reducing stress, thereby enhancing the immune system and preventing illness.
